Opening Sequence First Draft
I was really excited over our first draft, i personally really liked the way our final song choice went with some of the scenes, our use of focus really turned out well as they helped a lot in creating a mood for our audience in the introduction. We really managed to get across Ali's characters personalty in the short amount of time he is shown as one of the first things he does is pick up drugs. I would be lying if i said there are no improvements that are necessary not that i don't believe it is already a quite impressive piece of work.
Improvements
These are the following improvements are group came to a decision on.
- There needs to be an extra shot at the end, to add a sense of conclusion to the opening scene of the movie. This would preferably be a shot of Flo (Kirsty) From Ceaser's (Ali) point of view.
- An effect is needed on around the 4th or 5th shot to show that the 'unfocused' technique is deliberate.
- Ali's last shot in his first section (him walking away out of focus) needs to be cut earlier to create a better sense of flow.
- In the dialogue between Jotham and Ali, the middle two speaking parts ("What are you talking about?" and "You know what I mean") need to be taken out as they are not relevant and disrupt the flow of the opening.
Film Title
This is my original idea for out film title, the S features a male symbol to represent Ali and the C features a female symbol to represent Kirsty. I believe this is a good representation of the film. Our title name "sync" is a common musical term used for two things that come together. Our films main theme is music so this is a great choice of film name.
However after a group decision and vote, this was the title style we came to choose, we still kept our original title name however we used a different font for the title. The pitch black background along with the white letters and full stop symbolise to sides of a spectrum coming to an end. a sense of foreshadowing.
